Standard Deduction
| If you take the standard deduction, and are single,
you already are credited with having $5,150 in deductions
for casualty losses, interest, other named expenses,
and for charitable contributions. Married Persons
and other status rules generally increase this amount.
If your actual deductions exceed this amount,
you can itemize.

| Gifts to public charity such as Tree House Books
are deductible up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income
if you itemize.
