Last April, some of our Junior Staff Members interviewed Don Williams for the 2nd Annual Treasures of North Philadelphia. Don owns Don’s Doo Shop and has been on Susquehanna Avenue since 1964. He told us about the Uptown Theater and what it was like for him to be a barber in North Philadelphia. “This is Tree House Books!”

On November 3rd, 2010, Tree House Books held it’s biggest fundraising event ever.  The event was called “Life With Books” and celebrated Tree House’s 5th anniversary.  It was held at Water Works Restaurant & Lounge located along the Schuylkill River behind the Philadelphia Art Museum.  Lauren made this video to show guests what being at Tree House Books is like.

Between These Streets was a special workshop for our Junior Staff Members in partnership with other Philadelphia non-profits – Mighty Writers in South Philly, and El Centro Nuevo Creacion in Kensington.  Together they shared their own Philadelphia neighborhoods through sounds, stories, images, and maps.

This video highlights our visit to Glenwood Green Acres as part of the 2010 Summer Shade Program: Make Your Space Beautiful.  Glenwood Green Acres is a community garden located at 18th Street and Glenwood Avenue in North Philadelphia.  Tree House kids visited and toured the garden to be inspired and to learn how to create their own community garden in Tree House’s back lot.
